In addition to promoting the city to tour operators and incoming partner agencies, Tourisme Montréal operates as part of the Montréal Cruise Committee so as to attract new companies, increase the number of cruise ships visiting Montréal and extend their stay. Press tours, journalist receptions and participation in media fellowships are part of the broader effort to promote Montréal as a leading tourist destination.
Each year, Tourisme Montréal welcomes some 500 writers and journalists; not surprisingly, 90% of them write about our city. Tourisme Montréal organizes press tours for visiting journalists so that they may experience Montréal firsthand. In 2017, for example, l'Express Hors-série, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Toronto Star, enRoute Magazine and more wrote about Montréal. 2017 press coverage is estimated at 1,037 media mentions with an advertising value of $16,171,119, for increased reputational gain of $40,740,666.
Our toolkit contains many downloadable documents, which were created for international journalists writing specific content on Montréal.
